We are here to solemnly call on all users, developers, and members of the open-source community to collectively boycott the infringing actions of the LSPosed team.
The LSPosed team blatantly claims their copyright is paramount while disregarding the copyrights of others, a double standard that is outrageous. What is even more infuriating is that the projects they are using, such as EDXposed and Xposed, are based on GPLv3 licensed open-source projects.
Their project incorporates not only code from EDXposed and Xposed, but also numerous other libraries licensed under the GPL. This further complicates their violation of the GPLv3 license agreement.
They are openly violating the GPLv3 license agreement by using code from these GPL-licensed projects while refusing to fulfill their open-source obligations: not publishing their source code and not providing proper attribution. This behavior is a blatant trampling of the open-source spirit! Furthermore, they are now distributing their closed-source builds through internal testing on Telegram, exacerbating their disregard for open-source principles.
The GPLv3 license is designed to protect the freedom of open-source software. It requires that any developer using code under the GPLv3 license must publish their modified source code and retain the original authors' attribution. The LSPosed team's actions are not only a contempt for the GPLv3 license but also a disrespect for all open-source contributors!
They have brazenly stated, "Our code is garbage, any cat or dog can fork it and turn it into something spectacular," a familiar narrative they also used when Magisk removed MagiskHide. It's clear that they haven't learned from past mistakes and that old habits die hard. Source
Ironically, LSPosed's own code is a fork of the EdXposed project. This makes their arrogance and disrespect for open-source principles even more hypocritical.
They are attempting to mask their release of infringing closed-source versions under the guise of maintenance. We users are not fools; we will not be deceived by such tactics!
If they believe that open source has no value, then they can choose to stop maintaining the project, rather than claiming stolen code as their own and releasing closed-source products.
We strongly demand that the LSPosed team:
Note: Before January 8, 2024, LSPosed's code was open-source. However, since that date, they have violated the GPLv3 license by releasing closed-source builds without providing the corresponding source code.
We call on all users to stop using LSPosed products, so that the infringers will pay the price for their behavior!
The future of open source requires our collective effort. Let us act together to boycott this shameless infringement!
